How did the book inspire/create thoughts/feelings
After reading the novel "Fahrenheit 451" I got inspired, because "Fahrenheit 451" made me realize how important books are, and how we don't take advantage of all the books we have, and books are free to read. Throughout the chapters of "Fahrenheit 451" a lot of thoughts came to me for example, why Montag began to read books even knowing the consequences of his home being burned down and him. Lastly "Fahrenheit 451" made me feel good, because Montag overcame his obstacles and did what he thought was good for himself and was happy where he ended up at.
Through out my three years of high school I never payed much attention to books. My English teachers would give us an essay to do on a book I would just do the work and never pay much attention the book due to our teachers not explaining the meaning of phrases. Now this year I was fortunate to have an English teacher named Dr. Preston. Why I say I am fortunate is, because Dr. Preston is my first English teacher to actually explain the meaning of the books and go over phrases of the books and make it easy to understand the meaning of the books. This is the reason why I was able to get inspired by the novel "Fahrenheit 451",because I got an understanding on the novel "Fahrenheit 451."
How I got inspired by the novel "Fahrenheit 451" was by realizing that books are important by making you realize reality. In the begging of the novel Montag enjoyed burning books and homes. Montag did not question his actions. Until he meets Clarisse he starts asking himself questions of the actions he did, for example burn people homes and people who got burned. It made Montag sick thinking about his actions, which in the begging in the novel he enjoyed burning homes; that made Montag a great citizen following orders. Everything changes when Montag opens a book and starts reading it. Montag reads for the first time and starts asking questions, for example " How in the hell did those bombers get up there every single second of our lives! Why doesn't someone want to talk about it? We've started and won two atomic wars since 1960. Is it because we're so rich and the rest of the world's so poor and we just don't care if they are? I've heard rumors; the world is starving, but we're well-fed."(pg, 33) Montag is finally starting to think about reality. If we do not read we do not know whats actually happening in reality. For example there are kids actually starving right now and we simply ignore it just as in the book "Fahrenheit 451."
Montag got me thinking why is this man so crazy over books risking his life just for books. Are books that important to risk your life for a book. In the begging he enjoyed burning books and just by reading a book his whole perspective changed on books. "Fahrenheit 451" also got me thinking how in the world did Ray Bradbury predict so many thing . For example sea shells that were used as radios for hearing like ear buds, flat screen was also one Bradbury prediction, electronic surveillance, and more. Books are full of questions and get you thinking.
Feelings that I had on the novel "Fahrenheit 451" were of joy, because Montag did what was correct and made me feel that we are living the same time period as Montag. Montag went through a lot. Escaped from a hound and chose between being a good citizen(firefighter) or breaking the law ; reading books. Montag choose to read books, because that is what made him happy. Montag was happy in nature enjoying life. Compared to Mildred being happy by watching T.V. That can also relate to present time now if you go to the park you hardly see any kids at the park due to kids and adults watching T.V, or on their phones.
Lastly these are reasons why "Fahrenheit 451"inspire me to take advantage of all the free books we have to gain knowledge on reality. Also made me create thoughts for example how Bradbury was able to predict a lot of things and "Fahrenheit 451"made me feel as we reading a documentary on our society.
